Since March 2024, the Wikimedia Foundation has officially adopted the Universal Code of Conduct after community approval. This new code will significantly change the dynamics within Wikimedia projects and the movement. What is the importance of this universal code of conduct? How can it be implemented? And how will it contribute to addressing harmful behaviors within Wikimedia projects? In this session, a newly elected member of the Coordinating Committee representing the Middle East and North Africa region will explain everything about the code of conduct, the Coordinating Committee, its role, and how it handles reports and investigations.
